Key Biscayne Sandbar Charter

Key Biscayne Sandbar Charter

The Key Biscayne sandbar is the easiest yes in our voyage catalog. Forty minutes from any Miami marina, calm protected water, sand bottom at 3 to 5 feet of depth, and a social scene that runs every weekend from March through November. Most charters anchor up, drop the swim platform, and stay put for two to three hours. Some groups raft up with friends on neighboring boats. Some stay quiet on their own. Either works. The sandbar is wide enough to absorb crowds and shallow enough that the kids can stand. The optional No Name Harbor lunch at the Boater's Grill is a Miami classic worth doing once. Order conch fritters and Cuban-style cracked conch, drink a beer, get back on the water. On the way home the captain can take a slow loop past Stiltsville, the cluster of stilt houses standing in open water off Cape Florida that is one of the most photographed spots in Biscayne Bay. This is the right voyage for first-time charter clients, family groups with young kids, and anyone who wants a low-stress half-day on the water without committing to a full-day trip.

Frequently Asked

  • Is the sandbar good for kids?

Yes. Water is shallow at low tide, calm, and most boats anchor in 3 to 5 feet. We provide life jackets in all sizes.

  • Can we raft up with friends on another boat?

Absolutely. Just coordinate with the other captain. Rafting at the sandbar is the entire culture of the spot.

  • Is there a charge to anchor?

No. The sandbar is open public water. We just need a clear path in and a sand bottom to set the hook.

  • What if the sandbar is crowded?

Captain knows alternate spots within a 10 minute cruise. Nixon's Sandbar to the north and the southern flats off Biscayne National Park are common backups.

  • Can we bring a dog?

Yes, with notice. Captain confirms the vessel is dog-friendly and provides a clean towel station.

  • Can we extend to 6 or 8 hours?

Yes. Add hours at booking and the rate scales with the standard yacht hourly tier.
